CONCERT: John Melczer, guitarist/composer

John Melczer, Assistant, Rotch Visual Collections, will play original compositions on the guitar. Melczer has performed in the last two all-staff library concerts.

RECITAL: José Luis Argüello, piano

Join ABD for a program of classical piano, as José Luis Argüello performs some of the repertoire’s best. Program includes McDowell’s “To a Water-lily” and “To a Wild Rose,” Ravel’s “Une barque sur ‘océan,” Beethoven’s Sonata, Op. 31, No. 2 in d minor, and Gershwin’s “Three Preludes.” Argüello is an Administrative Assistant in the Department of Architecture.

CONCERT: Meridian Singers, Laura Doughty, director

The Meridian Singers is a mixed classical and madrigal a cappella chorus, which is open to all in the MIT community. The group rehearses on Mondays at the noon hour, hence the name, Meridian.

CHILDREN’S THEATRE: The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, based on the book by Jon Scieszka

The wolf gives his own outlandish version of what really happened when he tangled with three little pigs.

RECITAL: Lee Ridgway, harpsichord

Ridgway will perform music from the 17th and 18th centuries, featuring the works of Johann Jacob Froberger, François Couperin, and Johann Sebastian Bach.

CONCERT: Silverwood Trio featuring Cindy Woolley, flute and soprano

The Silverwood Trio celebrates its 10th Anniversary season with the World Premiere of music by Needham composer Rob Polansky. Other pieces include Four Songs by Andre Previn (text by Toni Morrison), and trios by Kuhlau and Gaubert. Cindy Woolley is an Administrative Assistant in the Department of Biology.

Melanie Howell is a local Boston musician with a love of many different types of music. She will perform pieces for saxophone, from both classical and jazz genres. Howell is a Local Technology Expert at Rotch Library.

RECITAL: Alecia Batson, soprano, with David McGrory, piano
With a penchant for the more obscure, Alecia and David will present a recital of some overlooked works with bemusing texts. Composers include Gershwin, Persichetti and Thompson; poets include Dickinson, Stein and Rumsfeld. Batson is an Administrative Assistant in the Office of the President.

READING: Edward Dolan, storyteller

Edward Dolan, IS&T, presents stories about choice and loss; integrity and decision; poignancy and hope; letting go and “coming to oneself.” Spend an hour listening and reflecting as the stories carry you along.

READING: Karyn Crispo Jones, poet
Jones’ poems have appeared in Atomic Petals and Facets Magazine and are forthcoming in Alimentum. Jones recently spoke alongside Thomas Lux at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. She will be reading from her recent work. Jones is an Administrative Assistant in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.

CONCERT: Kelli Eagan, singer-songwriter

This Boston-based musician has been performing for over 15 years and has lived and performed in both Los Angeles and New York. She has been singing since youth and playing guitar since she was 14. Eagan has had classical voice training and, more recently, classical Hindustani vocal lessons. Her performance will include original pop and folk music. Eagan is an Administrative Assistant in the Center for International Studies.

READING: Conor J. Murphy, writer

Murphy will read his own short stories and autobiographical essays, which have been described as hilarious, witty, and touching. Murphy has worked in both radio and television, and has contributed his sardonic wit to several obscure online journals. Murphy is an Administrative Assistant at the Sloan School of Management.

CONCERT: “Tell Me the Truth About Love” featuring Rebecca Chamberlain, mezzo-soprano, with Brian Moll, piano, and Jason Fisher, viola

Rebecca Chamberlain will perform a program of love songs from a variety of composers, including Brahms, Britten, Debussy, Duke, Elgar, and Vaughn-Williams, plus Gerome Kern and Cole Porter.
